How it works

First dates that are not a coffee interview

A rewatch. A convention. A group cosplay that needs one more person. A tabletop table short of a player. A co-op run of a campaign one of you has never finished. These are better first dates than sitting opposite a stranger listing your hobbies.

They are also easier to propose, because the profile already said what you are into. Half the awkwardness of a first message is guessing; here you are not guessing.

And if it turns out to be a friendship rather than a romance, nothing is wasted — that is what the community side is for. Plenty of people use both, and geek dating more broadly if their fandom is wider than one galaxy.
